After reducing it to 1.25V where my system is running stable (Going below 1.15V gave me crashes) I decided to settle in the middle. I have tried different thermal paste and coolers (Bought the Cryorig H7, damn it's a beautiful cooler) and after trying to apply thermal paste half a dozen times without better results, I figured that there was something else going on.Īs it turned out, my Asus H87-pro had it's BIOS up to date, but the CPU voltage was 1.4V on stock speeds. Hey everybody, ever since I upgraded my system from the i5-4440 to the i7-4790k last October I have had heat issues, where under load my CPU temps were going to 90☌ and beyond and it turned out to not be one single issue, but a combination of multiple factors. TL DR: i7-4790k was drawing power for the sake of drawing power, together with extreme base voltage created loads of heat ![]()
